International educator events and master classes

Thomas Hampson and the Hampsong Foundation will present a ‘Song of America: Beyond the Song’ Event with Dana Gioia, California Poet Laureate, on June 14 at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. This event is in collaboration with the San Francisco Symphony, San Francisco Opera, and San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and features the following artists in performance: Renée Rapier, mezzo-soprano; Brad Walker, bass-baritone; and Peter Grunberg, pianist. Gioia and Hampson will also host a dialogue with the singers about their selections. This event is free and open to the public (RSVP required).

On June 24, Hampson will present a Master Class at Santa Barbara’s Music Academy of the West. The event which takes place at Hahn Hall, features young artist fellows from the Academy’s acclaimed Vocal Program. Thomas is the Mosher Guest Artist this season at the Academy, and he is also an alumni of the Music Academy (classes of ’78 & ’79). Following the event, Mr. Hampson leads a day-long Song of America series of events for SongFest Los Angeles, at The Colburn School, hosted on June 25. Event highlights include a morning educator workshop, with corresponding activities for teachers and teaching artists, a lunchtime concert featuring SongFest participants, and an afternoon session with Hampson and the participants titled Song in Dialogue. The event free of charge and open to the public , however, space is limited. Mr. Hampson also presents a series of highly anticipated master classes as part of his residency at the Schubertiade Hohenems, on July 13, 14 & 15 (two classes are hosted each day) with a final concert on July 16. All events will be hosted at the Markus-Sittikus-Saal, with tickets and additional information available via the Schubertiade online. He returns to the Salzburg Festival on August 11 for a master class featuring members of the Salzburg Festival Young Singers Project. The class is free and open to the public.
