Recitals and Concerts across Europe and the U.S.

Thomas Hampson joins pianist Wolfram Rieger for a recital at Millstatt’s Musikwochen on August 30. The programme features lieder by Brahms, Mahler, Wolf, and Strauss; please note that tickets are extremely limited for this performance. Mr. Hampson then travels to Belgium on September 15 for the Ghent Festival of Flanders, for a Gala Night Concert with the National Orchestra. This event highlights favored arias and song from Hampson’s career, including selections from Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Verdi’s Don Carlo, and popular pieces by Cole Porter. Soprano Jodie Devos joins Mr. Hampson for this concert, led by Maestro Sascha Goetzel.

On September 27, Hampson serves as the narrator for a special concert commemorating the opening of the first part of the Milton and Tamar Maltz Performing Arts Center in Cleveland, presented as the Opening Concert of a community collaboration called Violins of Hope Cleveland. The evening features a thrilling program from conductor Franz Welser-Möst and The Cleveland Orchestra, including Beethoven’s Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus and Leonore Overture No. 3, Schönberg’s Kol Nidre, and Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto, with soloist Shlomo Mintz. Tickets are currently sold-out for this event, however, there will be a live TV and radio broadcast beginning at 3pm on the 27th, via ideastream on WVIZ/PBS television and WCLV Classical 104.9 FM radio, as well as a live stream via WVIZ.ideastream.org. The concert will be rebroadcast on October 2 at 9 p.m. and October 4 at 3 p.m.
